Several parks within the county offer sand beaches and designated swimming areas in freshwater lakes, where you can dig your toes into the sand and cool off in the refreshing water. With additional amenities catering to sports lovers and fishermen, there’s something for everyone at Cobb County’s beaches.
Celebrate on the Shore
- Situated along the northern shore of 90-acre Lake Acworth in Acworth, Cauble Park’s beach is perfect for building sandcastles and soaking up the sun. A designated swimming area is open from dawn until dusk June to Labor Day, and a changing station, restroom and showers are adjacent to the beach. After splashing in the water, enjoy a picnic at one of the tables or rent one of the pavilions or gazebos for a group get-together. Two playgrounds with modern equipment allow kids to burn off energy, while a fishing dock beckons anglers to cast for largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and crappie. The park also plays host to annual events including concerts, an Easter egg hunt and Fourth of July fireworks.
Slide In
- Feel the rush as you slide down the giant inflatable waterslide at Dallas Landing Park, also in Acworth. A designated swimming area parallels the large beach, where you can cool off with a dip after a game on the volleyball court. Bring lunch and make use of the grills and picnic tables or book a pavilion for group events. Additional amenities include horseshoe pits and restrooms. The park is open from April to September, and a small fee is charged for entry.

- Spend the day lounging along the shores of Lake Allatoona at Acworth’s Proctor Landing. Walk along the waterfront walkway to the beach, where you can access a designated swimming area or hit the volleyball and horseshoe courts for a friendly game. Picnic areas are located beneath shade trees, and a jetty invites fishermen to try their luck at reeling in spotted bass, striped bass and crappie. The park is open April to September, and visitors must pay a small fee for entry.
Remote Relaxation
- On the southern side of Lake Acworth, South Shore Park sits on 30 acres in Acworth. The park includes a beach with a designated swimming area, as well as a fishing area and launch site for small boats and canoes. While the park lacks amenities such as restrooms, you can find quiet solitude along its shores and in the surrounding wooded landscape.
