Riverboat Rides That Leave From Tunica Resorts, Mississippi

Tunica County, previously an economically depressed area of the Mississippi Delta about 20 miles south of Memphis, transformed itself into a vibrant tourist attraction with the opening of dockside gambling in 1990. Along with extravagant casinos and entertainment venues, visitors can enjoy an old-fashioned riverboat cruise along the iconic Mississippi River as it flows through the town of Tunica Resorts, previously known as Robinsonville. Reflecting an ambiance of days gone by, the Tunica Queen vessel provides sightseeing, dinner and entertainment cruises.

The Vessel

  • The Tunica Queen is the only riverboat offering cruises departing from and arriving into Tunica County. The 400-seat vessel is modeled after the iconic riverboats of yesteryear that once traversed the Mighty Mississippi on a regular basis. Two stories provide plenty of room for strolling the decks and dining onboard. Climate-controlled indoor areas allow excursions to run on select days from March through December; check the schedule ahead of time and make reservations for guaranteed tickets.

Dinner and Dancing

  • Start your evening out in a glamorous way with dinner and dancing onboard the Tunica Queen. The two-hour cruise includes a prime rib meal and entertainment by live local bands. A fully stocked bar provides optional cocktails and wine for enjoying on the open-air deck on a starlit night while gliding across the river currents. You'll be back in plenty of time to hit the resort casinos and take in shows by some of country music's greatest stars. Large groups can book the entire riverboat for special occasions or events.

Sights to See

  • If you prefer a daytime excursion, the Tunica Queen provides sightseeing cruises lasting 1.5 hours, departing mostly on weekend afternoons. The captain tells stories about the river's history and local points of interest as the boat weaves past sand bars and through coves and outlets, while lively music reflects bygone eras of riverboat travel. Snacks and sandwiches are available on the upper deck, as well as signature drinks such as a Mississippi Mud Slide, a Strawberry Southern Belle or a Peach Sunset.

The Lowdown

  • All ages are welcome aboard the Tunica Queen riverboat. Children under the age of 4 ride free, and discounts are available for seniors and children ages 5 to 12. The journey begins at the RiverPark landing in Tunica Resorts; arrive early to enjoy the Mississippi River Museum with four freshwater aquariums, a 48-foot river outlook and a nature trail. Boarding for all riverboat journeys begins 30 minutes before departure time.
