Carnival Cruise Line Shore Excursions

A vacation aboard a Carnival Cruise Line ship, dubbed "The Fun Ships" by the Carnival company, offers on-board activities such a water slides, duty-free boutiques, dance lessons, casinos, pool games, spa, salon, fitness club and entertainment. For many cruisers, it's the activities off the ship, called excursions, that can contribute to a memorable vacation. Carnival Cruise Line sails into ports around the world, giving cruisers unlimited options for their port activities, from the mild to the adventurous.

Sightseeing

  • Whether you enjoy getting to know a new port by foot, bus or bike, Carnival offers many different ways to sight see as you sail into a new city. Travelers cruising to Alaska, for example, may board the "Taste of Juneau" sightseeing tour aboard a motor coach to the Glacier Gardens Rain Forest, with a narrated ride and guide to explain areas along the walking part of the tour. If you prefer to sightsee on your own time, consider the "All Day Hop On Hop Off Double Decker Tour" on the Halifax/Nova Scotia excursion. Cruisers board a British double-decker bus with three tour loops and 16 stops where you can jump on and off throughout your time in port. The bus takes you to sites such as the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Public Gardens, Halifax Citadel and Spring Garden Road.

Adventure

  • If the thrill of the high seas tempts you, disembark the cruise ship and embark on a variety of adventures with excursions such as the "Canadian Tall Ship Sailing Experience," where passengers take a one-and-a-half-hour sail aboard the Silva tall ship and get hands on crew experience. In the Southern Caribbean, board a 4 x 4 Land Rover Jeep for a rugged tour through the Southern Caribbean's Castries and Morne Fortune, with bumpy off-road trails and time for swimming. Get your blood pumping in St. Lucia with the "Adrenaline Zipline Adventure," where guests are "zipped" into harnesses and fly through trees and different platforms around the Rainforest Adventure Park. Some excursions, such as zip lining, have restrictions, including age limits (zip lining requires a minimum age of 12) and weight limits (weight must be 350 pounds or under for zip lining).

Taste the Town

  • Dive into the local cuisine and culture with tasting excursion tours. A cruise to Hawaii may include the "Taste of Kona" excursion, where guests can visit the Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory and tour the Kona Joe Coffee Farm. Adults may enjoy Mexico's "Historic Merida Highlights & Mayan Run Tasting" tour, which includes a guided, narrated tour and a visit to the Xtabentun Mayan liqueur factory, where passengers can sample the product, which includes honey, rum and Yucatan-exclusive anise. Some tours, such as liquor tasting, restrict guests to ages 21 and older.
