Things to Do in City of Industry, California


With a population of only about 220, the hillside city known as City of Industry, in California, offers visitors an entertaining mix of shopping, golf and other family-friendly attractions within its 12 square miles. Located east of Los Angeles and north of Huntington Beach, the city is a convenient inland Southern California stop for travelers on road trips that cross the path of communities bordered by Interstates 10, 710, 57 and 605.

Wheels and Hooves

  • At the city’s hillside Industry Hills Expo Center, enjoy a motorcycle race, see a rodeo or watch a horse show in the covered Grand Arena. Enjoy professional speedway motorcycle races from May through August, with live classic rock music shows scheduled before most races. In October, Industry Hills Charity Pro Rodeo hosts PRCA-sanctioned shows on weekends that include bull riding, team roping and barrel racing. Horse shows are scheduled at other times of the year.

Swing a Club

  • Pacific Palms Resort and Conference Center is home to the city-operated Industry Hills Golf Club and its two 18-hole championship golf courses: the hilly Eisenhower course and the 650-acre par-71 Zaharias course. The Eisenhower, also called the “Ike,” has hosted U.S. Open qualifying tournaments and LPGA tour events. The golf club offers one-on-one and group golf lessons. After a day on the links, schedule a massage at the full-service Spa at Pacific Palms.

Explore California History

  • At the Homestead Museum, tour two historic homes as you learn about the history of Southern California pioneers of the mid-1800s, who would later transform cattle ranches into wheat fields and vineyards. Don't miss the antique stained glass and tiles inside the 1920s Spanish-style house called La Casa Nueva. A cemetery where local pioneer families were buried is also on the grounds. Free guided tours are available.

Shopping and a Movie

  • Puente Hills Mall has more than 100 shops, restaurants and other venues, including an indoor movie theater complex. Shop and watch a movie from your car at the Vineland Swap Meet, an outdoor flea market that has more than 600 vendor spaces on the grounds of the Vineland Drive-In Movie Theater. The swap meet is open every day. At the time of publication, it closes at 1:30 p.m. on weekdays and 3 p.m. on weekends to show movies each night on four giant outdoor screens.

Games and Go-Karts

  • At SpeedZone Los Angeles in City of Industry, play arcade games, race go-karts, or try a round of 18-hole miniature golf. At Round 1 Entertainment at Puente Hills Mall, go bowling at lanes with full-size screens that can be programmed to show your favorite music video while you try for a strike. Round 1 also has karaoke rooms on the premises, as well as table tennis, dart games and billiards.
