RV Camping Near the Placer County, California Fairgrounds


Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville, California, seems to be constantly buzzing with activity. Whether exploring the County Fair in June, enjoying BerryFest in May or watching the AKC Dog Show in October, travelers are almost always headed to town to take in the sights and sounds of the fairgrounds. Those traveling in RVs have convenient camping options, from spots within the Fairgrounds to luxury campsites for big rigs, all less than 25 minutes from the events.

Fairgrounds Camping

  • Located on the grounds of the Placer County Fair & Events Center, this RV park is the ideal spot for those traveling to Roseville for events at the fairgrounds. This campground has 20 full-service sites with up to an additional 80 open, field-based sites with electric and water hookups. Red picnic tables stand ready at each of the full service sites, while all guests have access to restrooms and hot showers. Depending on the size of the event, access to the field campground may be limited. Gate J on the east side of the fairgrounds is the most direct access point, and calling ahead to let the campground manager know of your arrival will make finding and backing into your first-come, first-served spot a breeze.

Lakeside Camping

  • Only a 15-minute drive from the Fairgrounds, just off of Auburn-Folsom Road in Granite Bay, rests Beal’s Point Campground and Recreation Area. Next to the sandy shores of Folsom Lake, more than 60 sites can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, and provide guests with full water, electric and sewer hookups. Barbecues and family picnics are popular activities, as are hiking and biking on the trails around Folsom Lake. The snack bar at Beal’s Point not only offers up picnicking snacks, but it also rents beach equipment like paddle boats, canoes and volleyball sets. A dip in the cool and relaxing waters of Folsom Lake is a great way to unwind after a day spent exploring the treats of the Fairgrounds.

Secluded Spots

  • The Peninsula Campground sits just outside the small town of Pilot Hill, on the northeast shore of Folsom Lake, and is a less-than-20-minute drive from the Fairgrounds. This secluded spot has 100 campsites perfect for rigs 24 feet and shorter. Hookups are not available, but flush toilets and piped drinking water are provided. Barbecues, picnic tables and benches are set up here, and two boat launches are ready for travelers hoping to get some time out on the water while visiting the area. Swimming, water skiing and wake boarding are popular activities, and there are a number of nature trails for hiking. The nearby marina provides not only lake equipment rentals, but also snacks for hungry campers.

Gold Rush Luxury

  • Once you are finished discovering the Fairground events, campers might be inclined to explore California’s gold rush history in Auburn. Just a 25-minute drive from the Fairgrounds, Auburn Gold Country RV Park allows campers to get a taste of history -- with easy access to downtown tours -- while still being conveniently close to Fairground events. Daily, weekly and monthly rates are available at this upscale RV park, which provides not only a spot to rest your head, but also many of the comforts of home. Full hookup RV sites, including spots for rigs up to 60 feet, sit under shade trees. Should you want to have guests without their own rigs, cabins and deluxe apartments are also available. After a long day at the fair, guests can return to the RV park to enjoy the heated swimming pool and spa. Outdoor games, a playground and fishing pond bring additional entertainment, while an on-site convenience store takes care of campers’ basic needs.
