Book your bus trip online. Booking online with Greyhound will net you a special web only fare. These fares will save you a percentage off normal standard fares. The amount you save will depend on when you book and where you intend to travel. Web only fares are non-refundable and must be booked through Greyhound on line.
Step 2:
Purchase your tickets ahead of time. With Greyhounds's advance purchase promotion, you can save up to 50% on your bus fare. Short trips booked at least 14 days in advance will be discounted up to 25%. Trips booked 7 days in advance will be discounted 10%. Advance purchase tickets are non-refundable and may not be combined with any other discount offer.
Step 3:
Travel with friends or family. When you purchase one full price ticket, up to three friends can save 50% when they travel along with you. This special companion fare is good for both one-way and round trip tickets. Tickets must be purchased at least 3 days in advance and are non-refundable.

Book a student fare. Greyhound's student discount fare can save you 20% per ticket and 40% on package shipping through the company's PackageXpress service. Those who are interested must apply for a Student Advantage Discount Card. The card costs $20 plus shipping and handling.
Step 5:
Take advantage of senior fares. Greyhound bus lines offers seniors over the age of 62 a 5% discount on bus routes within the US. Those who claim the discount may not use it in conjunction with any other discounts. Totally unused tickets are refundable however they will incur a 15% fee upon refund. Those interested in the discount will need to present a valid government issued ID.

Sign up for the "Road Rewards" program. Greyhound's reward program is ideal for anyone who travels through the bus company often.
